Autumn is a special season, nature stops, seems to finally take stock, reflect on the great work done in the spring and summer. Autumn is also the season of colors, warm colors, not flashy, almost certain violent spring blooms.
The landscapes are blurred,
Acer Japonica aconitifolia
missing blue, violet, departing from the tints of green evergreen or spend some latecomer to yellow and red with an infinite range of shades.
Acer tutcheri
Everything is as muffled, muted by the lights less violent, even the sun has its time, and its rays give more plain in the leaves gradually more and more rare, special lights and transparency.

For these and other reasons has this season of my favorites, as the beginning of spring, when facing the first leaves of a delicate green and emerald forests, the spots are still permeable to view, but these emotions in me, in the spring, are already mediated by the thought of vegetative bully approaching, which means work, work, while autumn and promises to send pause, reflection, rest and time for a variety of projects always postponed.

The plants are preparing for
the winter, and which will not be ready for trouble! In the north of Italy in some years the autumn mild and favorable tricked the plants that have continued to vegetate until the cold has caught unprepared, damaging more or less serious parts still in growth or with tissues are not yet mature.
Complicated biochemical processes are the cause of the beautiful colors of the leaves. The chlorophyll decreases and becomes increasingly visible xanthophyll and carotene, responsible for the yellows, while contributing to the red anthocyanins, whose production is influenced by the drop in temperature, particularly at night.

In this ferment the leaves of mutations are also deprived of reserve substances that move into the woody parts of plants and will help to overcome the long winter months.
The selection of maples has created over the past years especially in Japan, and still show their names are difficult for us, hundreds of varieties of maple trees, called "Japanese." This research continues today, even outside Japan, with good results also in Italy.

pubipalmatum and we consider them new. Although this case, therefore naturally occurring in the forests of the Far East, not variants produced by selection or crossbreeding, never meet in the gardens, which is a pity, because can give autumns like fireworks.
